Balmar 6-series alternators are high-performance units rated at up to 10,000rpm. They have dual internal fans to improve cooling efficiency and a standard isolated ground construction makes them suitable for all types of boats. All units are ignition protected to meet USCG, ISO, SAE and CE standards, making them safe for both gasoline and diesel engines.
These alternators are normally used with an external regulator for optimum charging efficiency. Each alternator also contains a Smart Ready internal regulator which can be used as a backup regulator if the external one should fail. This internal regulator can be used as the primary regulator on smaller powerboats with conventional wet-cell batteries.
