Frigoboat Holding Plate Systems

For marine refrigeration systems where minimum power consumption and maximum efficiency are needed hold over plates offer many advantages. Frigoboat plates use real eutectic solutions that provide the maximum hold over capacity and the best temperature stability.

Frigoboat Holding plates are constructed of Stainless Steel and offered in four sizes.

The main differences between the evaporator & Holding plate systems are:

• An evaporator system cycles on and off several times per hour. A holding plate system cycles several times per day. The longer duty cycle of the holding plate is a more efficient way to run the system
• If you use solar panels - wind chargers or engine alternator & want to conserve battery power the holding plate acts as a thermal battery & can be frozen when surplus power is available - This can dramatically reduce the net power used from the battery.
• The evaporators can be operated lower temperatures and provide more freezer capacity - but this can also increase power consumption.
• Evaporators are less expensive.
• Holding plates are more rugged & durable

A lot depends on how you use the boat - if a majority of time is away from the dock and shore power & you want to minimize battery power consumption the holding plate can be a good investment.
