The interceptor consists of a small retractable composite
blade that is mounted on the trailing edge of the boat's transom.
As the blade is lowered it generates an upward pressure on the hull,
raising the stern and pushing the bow down. The system is designed
for planing and semi-planing hulls with maximum speed of 50 knots.
Compared to the traditional trim tab that extends
beyond the transom the interceptor has a lower profile and is less
exposed to possible damage.
Traditional trim tabs often use exposed hydraulic
actuators to position large tabs that protrude from the transom.
The components of the QL Trim system are:
· Interceptor Units (300mm or 450mm) -They
can be installed individually or side-by-side.
· Control Panel - equipped with 4 push buttons, and
two rows of LEDs for exact trim indication.
· Control Unit - this is the brains of the system, and
available for 1 or 2 pair of interceptors.
· 6-Pole Cable from Control Unit to Interceptors - Available
in 5 lengths. If there is more than one helm station, there is also
a Y-cable and a 6-pole extension cable.
· 4-Pole Cables from Control Unit to Control Panel.

PLEASE NOTE: The area of the transom where the interceptors
are to be mounted must be straight, flat and smooth. If you have a
question whether the BTS will work on your boat, email us pictures
of the transom.
The QL Trim System was recently featured in DIY boat
owner magazine Issue 2005-4
The article includes a step by step installation on a 22 ft boat.The

Sizing Guidelines:
Many factors affect the choice of the right sized interceptors, and
these sizing recommendations are based on average performance. Your
choice may vary based on power, engine configuration, weight distribution,
type of boat and use. The largest interceptors that will comfortably
fit on the transom will be the most efficient. For semi-planing hulls,
it may be necessary to increase the length of the interceptor configuration.
Please call if in doubt which size is best for your boat.

Hi - I recentily installed the Volvo QL Trim System on my 2006 215cc. It makes a big difference on my boat. Its very responsive and was easy to install. The best thing about them is the low profile of the trims it doesnt get in the way when your fishing or swimming and they fit snug under the swim ladder. I didn't have to make any modifications to the swim ladder. I found that the bow of my boat would stick way out of the water when I had people sitting at the back of the boat the trims corrected that problem. The trims give me much more control of the boat and more confidence on the water.I LOVE MY TRIMS!!!

Double-interceptor Trim system installed on this 34' Calvin Beal down-east design built
in MAINE. Two sets of Interceptors, one 300mm set
and one 450mm set used.
QL trim system installed on a 46' Carman commercial fishing
charter boat - 15' beam, 800hp Caterpillar engine, 26,000 lb displacement,
32 x 40 4-blade propeller. Custom system with two sets of 450mm Interceptors
used.
Comment from the Captain:
"I wanted to bring the bow down and smooth out the ride in rough
seas. The QL system definately bings the bow down. I haven't had the
boat out in rough weather yet, but the ride with the interceptors
in use is very smooth... It took me about 4 hours to install the whole
system. I'm very happy with the performance."
I put the tabs on without incident. All the stuff on your web site
was very helpful. It was a pretty easy installation, just getting
to the area was a little tough! They seem to work really well as far
as making the boat plane at lower speeds, keeping the bow down, and
equalizing the ride port to starboard is wonderful. They work so quickly.
I have a Sea Ray 220 SD, and took digital photos throughout the installation
if you have any customer that needs feedback or how to ideas. Thanks

Dear Greatwater,
Thanks for the great service providing me with the best QL TRIM TAB
system for my boat. I installed it on my trusty old HURRICANE 640
in less than a
day.
The boat has a VOLVO AQAD31 4 cylinder, 130hp diesel. These engines
while reliable are infamous for not getting on plane. The problem
is a dead zone at about 1800rpm before the turbo kicks in. In fact VOLVO manufactures
a specific "A" series duo prop for these diesels that has
4 blades instead of just three on the outer prop. While this provides the extra grab to
get through the dead zone, the four blades also cause extra drag once
the boat is planning.
With the QL TRIM TABS, I was able to upgrade to a more aggressive
three blade duo prop and still get on plane effortlessly. The boat
is faster, more fuel efficient and alot more fun!
